UNIT TITLE: PERFORM CIRCUIT TEST
UNIT CODE: CONElM3013A2
UNIT DESCRIPTOR: This unit covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to perform circuit test. It includes preparing for works, performing continuity test using megger, measuring earth resistance using earth tester, executing insulation resistance test and maintaining workplace, tools, equipment and materials.
NOMINAL HOURS: 30 Hours
LEARNING OUTCOME: At the end of this session, learners will be able to-
- Prepare for works.
- Perform continuity test using megger.
- Measure earth resistance using earth tester.
- Execute insulation resistance test.
- Maintain workplace, tools, equipment and materials.

Lets go for 3 week of online course and 1 week of face to face training ( Blended Course ) .

Personal Protective Equipment, commonly referred to as "PPE", is equipment worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses. Electrical tools are tools used to work on an electrical system. These can include a wide range of tools such as below:
- Electrician knife.
- Measuring tape.
- Pliers: (a) combination pliers, (b) cutting pliers (c) diagonal cutting pliers (d) long nose pliers.
- Screwdrivers: (a) star, (b) flat, (c) connecting.
- AVO meter.
- Multi meter.
- Megger.
- Earth tester.
- Insulation tester.

Electrical Material is basically the parts or elements used in the making of any electrical construction project. These can include a wide range of materials such as below:
- Wire.
- PVC tap.
- Earth electrode.
- Current electrode.
- Potential electrode.

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are collected and worn as per job requirement.
- Workplace is prepared as per job requirement.
- Tools, equipment and materials are selected & collected as per job requirement.

- Two terminals of megger are connected with wire terminal of load and moved 1/2 rounds to the continuity test as required standard.
- Standard RPM of megger is checked and set to 120 rpm for analog megger to get actual result of voltage & resistance.
- Listed value is re-checked and disconnected the terminal followed by Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

- Earth electrode is connected to measure earth resistance with earth tester followed by OSH.
- Current electrode is set into the ground following maximum distance 20m from earth electrode.
- Earth electrode is set at the middle place between the potential electrode and current electrode followed by the OSH.
- Maximum distance between current and potential electrode is kept 40m.
- Standard earth resistance is kept maximum 5 ohm for plane land and 8 ohms in the mountain area.
- Listed value is re-checked and disconnected the electrode followed by OSH.

- Power supply is disconnected and the wire connection is separated from MCB / MCCB properly maintain the OSH.
- Earth wire and testing wire are connected with insulation resistance tester and another terminal of testing wire is opened.
- Meter reading of insulation resistance is taken following 10 seconds' interval to maximum 1 minute.
- Meter reading is ensured to minimum 20 MQ & maximum 4000 MQ to ensure standard condition.

- Work area is cleaned in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Unused materials are stored for re-use or disposed following workplace procedures.
- Waste and scrap materials are disposed with following workplace procedures.
- Inventory of tools equipment are conducted and recorded as per checklist.
- Tools and equipment are cleaned and stored as per manufacturer's recommendation in appropriate location.
