    UNIT TITLE: INSTALL SOCKET

    UNIT CODE: CONElM2009A2

    UNIT DESCRIPTOR: This unit covers the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to install socket. It includes preparing for works, installing two-pin socket, three pin power sockets, dimmer switch / fan regulator and maintaining workplace, tools, equipment and materials.

    NOMINAL HOURS: 30 Hours

    LEARNING OUTCOME: At the end of this session, learners will be able to-

    In addition to the online course . Physical demonstration is mandatory for this course , so i should go for Blended Course.
    Lets go for 3 week of online course and 1 week of face to face training ( Blended Course ) .

    Total Course :   21 days

    Online Course :  2 Week 

                               ( 5 days per week for 1 hour ) 

                                   ( Saturday - Wednesday )

    Face to Face : 1 Week 

                             ( 5 days daily 3 hours and 

                                         1 day final assessment for 5 hour )

  • p.p.e.-personal protective equipment

    Personal Protective Equipment, commonly referred to as "PPE", is equipment worn to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses. These injuries and illnesses may result from contact with chemical, radiological, physical, electrical, mechanical, or other workplace hazards. Personal Protective Equipment may include items such as below:

    • Helmet
    • Safety goggles
    • Mask
    • Apron
    • Hand gloves
    • Safety shoe

    Electrical Material is basically the parts or elements used in the making of any electrical construction project. These can include a wide range of materials such as below:

    • Two pin sockets
    • Three pin power sockets

    • Rowel plug

    A voltage regulator is an electricity regulation device designed to automatically convert voltage into a lower, usually direct current (DC), constant voltage.

  • prepare for works

    1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is collected and worn as per job requirement.
    2. Workplace is prepared as per job requirement.
    3. Tools and materials are selected and collected as per job requirement.

  • Elements of Competency: Installation of two pin power socket

    1. Insulation of cable terminal is removed using wire striper according to job requirement.
    2. Upper part of the switch board from the base plate is separated.
    3. Two pin power socket and switch are fixed in the upper part of switch board firmly.
    4. Phase cable is connected into the switch terminal of two pin power socket firmly as per circuit diagram.
    5. Neutral cable is connected with the neutral terminal of two pin power socket as per circuit diagram.
    6. Power connection is checked as per diagram.
    7. Electrical load must be switched OFF/ON while it is operated.
    8. Electrical load must be kept within 5 Amp as required.

  • Elements of Competency: Installation of three pin power socket

    1. Insulation of cable terminal is removed using wire striper according to job requirement.
    2. Upper part of the switch board from the base plate is separated.
    3. Three pin power socket and switch are fixed firmly in the upper part of switch board.
    4. Phase cable is connected into the switch terminal of three pin power socket firmly as per circuit diagram.
    5. Neutral cable is connected with the neutral terminal of three pin power socket as per circuit diagram.
    6. Earth cable is connected with the earth terminal of three pin power socket as per circuit diagram.
    7. Power connection is checked as per diagram.
    8. Minimum 2.5 rm cable size must be used for making connection of three pin power socket.
    9. Three pin sockets max 13 amps (flat type) and for round type max 15 amp.
    10. Electrical load must be switched OFF/ON while it is operated.

  • Elements of Competency: Installation of dimmer switch/fan regulator

    1. Regulator upper part is separated from base plate as required.
    2. Regulator is installed into the switch board to tight the screw as required.
    3. One terminal cable is connected into the switch terminal by phase cable.
    4. Another terminal of regulator is connected into the fan phase terminal.
    5. Power connection is checked as per diagram.
    6. Rotation / speed of fan must be controlled by fan regulator as required.

  • Elements of Competency: Maintain workplace, tools, equipment and materials

    1. Work area is cleaned in accordance with workplace procedures.
    2. Unused materials are stored for re-use or disposed following workplace procedures.
    3. Waste and scrap materials are disposed with following workplace procedures.
    4. Inventory of tools equipment are conducted and recorded as per checklist.
    5. Tools and equipment are cleaned and stored as per manufacturer's recommendation in appropriate location.
